Mark M. McCourt
I have been lampworking for 9 years, during this time I have traveled around taking classes, doing demonstrations and working very hard to get where I am at today in the glassworking community. In the last couple of years, my techniques that I have worked on are becoming clearer to me.
As I advance at my artwork, I realize I have a lifetime ahead of me to perfect my trade and become better at what I do. Creativity, craftsmanship, control, use of color and technique.....all these things play a great role in the final product.
Understanding the dynamics of glass takes many years of practice and hard work. Having a keen eye for shaping and proportional sizing.....knowing the precise timing between liquid and hardness.....such things are very important to perfecting this great skill we all admire.
The flow of molten glass is absolutely mesmerizing. As Lino Tagliopietra has once quoted," the glass speaks to you, .... if you listen...the glass will speak to you." This statement is very true; the glass tells you to do this or not to do this. Glassblowing is my true meditation.
My goal is to keep on pushing myself to create new and exciting works of art everyday. Thanks to everyone who has supported me on my way to become a successful lampworker.
