Chaz Pyle
Chaz Pyle moved to Oregon in 1994. He attended Oregon State University and graduated with honors receiving a B.A. in English Literature in 1998. It was on the Oregon Coast where he initially witnessed glassblowing first hand . He knew then that he had found his medium. After apprenticing with glass sculptor, Scott Bison, Chaz struck out on his own in 2000. Working closely with Banjo, Drew, and Shad over the next few years, he honed his lampworking skills and today is considered a leader in the glass pipe movement. Chaz’s work has been feature in publications such as, Cannabis Culture, (January/ February Issue 2007), Glass Afficionado, (April Issue 2008) and Smoked Vol. 1 (Fall Issue 2008).In addition to this, Chaz published his first book entitled, Darkness: A Collaborative Glass Project, in the Fall of 2007. In February 2008, Chaz was awarded third place “Best of Show” at the Hot Glass Color Gallery’s “Third Annual Night of Boro” in Seattle Washington. 2008 also marked the release of Chaz’s “Signature Tool Series”, a line of innovative graphite glass working tools which he is now marketing directly to the lampworking community through his website glasschaz.com. Chaz continues to create glass art daily maintaining a thriving studio in Southern Oregon with his family. His work can be found in galleries and gift shops across the United States, Canada and Japan.
